One of the hazards of a desk job such as medical coding is that we are likely to sit for too many hours at a stretch. Studies show that the more people sit each day, the greater their risk for chronic health problems, such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Escape from your chair even if it looks eccentric; your health will thank you! Stand up when you talk on the phone, walk at lunch time, and stand up during meetings or educational webinars. It will take some creative thinking to find a solution but avoiding the chronic health issues associated with sitting will be well worth the effort.
